Description
View from Monument No. 120, looking east into "Smuggler's Gulch," near Nogales, Arizona and Sonora. Mexico is on the right. Rural routes are often used to smuggle consumer goods into Mexico to avoid the high import taxes and bribes. Driving up to the fence, runners then carry the goods to another waiting vehicle across the line. There are two types of paths: cow paths and smuggler's trails.
